The Panther speech and debate team competed in Center at the NSDA district meet. Princeton, along with 20 other schools, competed for the top two slots in each event to qualify for nationals this summer. The 3rd- and 4th-place spots become alternates in their events. A student may only go to nationals in a single event, but many of these students made it to placement positions in several events. These students earned bids to nationals:
Hannah Rodriguez and Alexis Jones in Policy Debate
Taylor Dougherty and Eden Burke in Policy Debate (Princeton closed out all of the policy debate bids)
Vivian Long in Congressional Debate
Christopher Malhas received special recognition as Student of the Year for the entire district. He will compete to become National Student of the Year.
In addition to these bids, several students are alternates in several events.
Chris Malhas is alternate in both LD Debate and International Extemp
Tristan Espinoza is alternate in LD and Informative Speaking
Vivian Long is alternate in Domestic Extemp
Eden Burke is also alternate in Domestic Extemp
Also, PHS debate coach Matt Riggins received the honor of Assistant Coach of the Year.
