Princeton ISD "Email Express" for week of Jan. 21

This is the 20th edition of Email Express, a communications tool utilized by Princeton Independent School District. This email is distributed weekly to keep you informed. Districtwide events are featured at the top, followed by a section for each campus to make information easier to navigate.
 
In addition. We welcome suggestions on how we can improve our communications so feel free to email jcollins@princetonisd.net with your ideas.

We encourage you to follow the district Facebook and Twitter to stay up-to-date, as well. SCHOOLS CLOSED
Princeton schools and offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 18, for President's Day. Normal classes and office hours resume Tuesday, Feb. 19.

DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE
The annual Daddy/Daughter Dance sponsored by the PHS cheer program is for ages 3-18 from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the PHS cafeteria. Click link to RSVP.

 
COMMUNITY CLOTHES CLOSET
Princeton's First Baptist Church at 511 Jefferson Ave. sponsors the Community Clothes Closet, which is open from 5-7 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month. Clothing, which include jeans and coats, are available to anyone in the community who needs assistance. For more information, contact volunteer coordinator June Taylor at 469-569-9477.

SALON OPEN
The salon at the Carol Bodwell CATE Center is now open and advanced cosmetology students are ready for appointments. The salon will be open the first and third Thursdays of each month from 8-10 a.m. and 12:15-5 p.m.

LAST CHANCE FOR SENIOR PORTRAITS
The last chance to have senior portraits taken will be 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at PHS. These will be used for graduation, yearbook and local media graduation edition.

FINAL YEARBOOK SALE
The final deadline to order a PHS yearbook will be Feb. 1. Purchase by this date to guarantee a book. Cost is $50. Click here for the order form or click this link to order online. One lucky student will win a $50 gift card just for buying a yearbook.

SENIOR SUPERLATIVES
Seniors only can vote on senior superlatives during lunches next week. Look for the yearbook table on the stage in the cafeteria. This includes accolades such as Mr. and Miss PHS, Most Athletic, Cutest Couple, Best Dressed, Most Likely to Succeed, Most Likely to Binge Watch Netflix and more.

WINTER WONDERLAND
Plans are underway now for the 2nd annual Winter Wonderland dance. Sponsored by Student Council, the event is planned from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. Cost is $12.
 
FCA MEETS
The PHS Huddle of FCA meets Friday mornings at 7 in Lecture Hall E114. Everyone is welcome. Donuts will be served.

CLARK PENNIES FOR PATIENTS
The Clark chapter of the National Jr. Honor Society's service project, Pennies for Patients, is underway and features a schoolwide competition between 5th-period classes raising money for children with leukemia.
 
Students are encouraged to bring in loose change or collect money at home during the next two weeks. Money should be turned in to their 5th-period class.
 
Clark students raised more than $1,200 last year for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and increased this year's goal to $1,500.
 
The winning class will get Olive Garden for lunch.

CLARK FLORIDA SCIENCE TRIP
Clark Jr. High will travel to the Florida Keys this summer, June 14-18, 2019.
 
Activities on the trip include:
Swimming with dolphins
Hiking the Everglades
Snorkeling among tropical fish
Visiting the world's only state-certified sea turtle veterinary hospital.
 
Splash into Science introduces concepts of environmental science, marine biology and life science in a fun and interactive way.

CUMC COMMON GROUND
Christ United Methodist Church has unveiled Common Ground, a new venue located in the center of Princeton created to provide opportunities for people of all ages and stages to connect, have intentional conversation and create community.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3-7 p.m. Common Ground will be open as a place for middle school and high school students to walk to after school - hang out, study, play games and watch movies. Tutoring will be available upon request.
 
Future events and programs at Common Ground will be scheduled and posted to the Facebook page @commongroundprinceton. Venue is also available for rent for private events.

CUMC is located at 310 Main St., Princeton, TX 75407.
