House Bill 114, which was signed by Gov. Greg Abbott on June 13, will go into law effective Sept. 1. This legislative action mandates students be placed in alternative school if they possess a vaping device on district property.

As Princeton ISD intends to fully enforce this action, we need your help. Understanding these consequences needs to begin at home, so we are asking you to have a serious conversation with your child in regards to vaping. These are harsh consequences with no room for negotiation, so students need to be aware there are no second chances or alternative punishments available, even for first-time offenders.

Lawmakers recognized the problems facing every district across the state as school administrators tried to get this situation from becoming more rampant, so now every district must adhere to HB114 and its mandates.

PISD will be proactive with its plans to enforce consequences, as well as educate parents on the legal and academic ramifications of this new law.

It is critical that parents and students understand that there will be zero tolerance for individuals who are caught with vaping devices in our schools, so please partner with us to make sure your students do not suffer from the negative effects of vaping.
