Bilingual Buddies joins high schoolers with students at James to develop language skills

Bilingual Buddies is a collaboration between James Elementary School and students at Princeton Senior High School in Fernando Puentes’ Spanish program.
Every week, PSHS seniors visit the campus to work with the younger students, helping them build confidence and support their English language acquisition in a positive and engaging environment. They work together on fun, hands-on projects.
At a recent session this spring, the students focused on shapes, colors and addition while strengthening their language skills.
“We are excited about the impact this partnership is making and look forward to extending this opportunity to other campuses in the upcoming school year,” said James bilingual teacher Marisa Loya, who worked with Mr. Puentes to bring the Bilingual Buddies to fruition. “We want to thank (principals) Richard Boring and Vince Venditto for their support of this effort.”
