Ms. Soto
I am Mindi Soto. I live in McKinney and have 2 daughters, ages 8 and 16. We also have a 1 year old Australian Shepard, Stellah. I graduated from Texas Woman's University, Class of '97. I am in the second decade of my educational career, and while I am a Texas native of the D/FW area, my career started in Yuma, AZ where I landed my first teaching job in first grade. Three years later, I moved back to D/FW and worked in the Plano and McKinney ISDs teaching first and second grades. When my first daughter was born, I made a change to teach part-time preschool, where I continued for 11.5 years. In addition, I have also worked as a Sped aide in Lovejoy ISD for 2 years and have done my share of substituting along the way. Life happened in a big way for us in 2019 and I went back to full-time teaching here in Princeton. I have been teaching first grade at Lacy Elementary for the past 3 years and will open Mayfield in its first year. It's exciting to be in a brand new school with so many new faces and teaching second grade again. I thoroughly love this age and the added independence the students come with. My youngest will be attending Mayfield as a third grader as well.
I have witnessed how drastically the teaching field has changed with the influx of ever-changing technology and innovation. Yet, there is no comparable substitute for a quality, driven, passionate teacher, which is what I strive to be each and every year for my students and their families. Students succeed best when there is a home-school connection. Please don't hesitate to contact me as we are working together on this journey.
I enjoy my non-teaching time spent among family and friends, crafting, DIYing, exercising, cooking, baking, gardening, thrift-shopping, road-tripping, and watching movies. I play outdoor coed soccer and am also active in my church. I am excited to be partnering with you in your child's second grade year. It's gonna be grand!!
