Mr. Micheal Wellington
My name is Micheal Wellington, and I have been in an education setting since 2005. I began my education journey working with kids with Autism, ranging from ages 3-13 in a school, as well as in a home setting. I was a Social Studies and Physical Education teacher at Alemany High School in Mission Hills California, from 2007 until 2020. There, I was the Head Track and Field Coach, where I was able to send 26 athletes to college in 7 and a half years. As a family driven team, we were able to win several league, regional, and runner-up plaques on the boys and girls teams. We were able to win 17 individual championships at the regional level, and we set over 30 school records. In addition, I have coached Track and Field at the Junior College and NAIA Level as well. I coached football at every level from Freshman to Varsity for 8 seasons under the legendary offensive mind, Dean Herrington.
I am the published author of the book "Fathered While Fatherless," and because of those experiences growing into adolescence, it has propelled me to attempt to be everything I wanted as a teen male, toward the kids that I teach and coach; hard, but understanding; comforting, but expectation driven; disciplined, but able to walk with them through the journey. I hope that you all see that as you get to know me.
I will be teaching Physical Education. I am currently the Head Coach for the Lady Panthers, due to the sudden loss of the Great Coach Maurice Hill.
I graduated from California State University, Northridge with a degree in Psychology, where I also was a 110 hurdler for the Matador Track and Field Team. I earned my Master's Degree in Education from the University of La Verne, also in California. I am also certified as a USATF Level 2 Coach, Specializing in Sprints, Hurdles, and Relays.
I am married to one of the greatest designers in the world, Houstina Summers, and we have 1 child, Grace.
