Degrees and Certifications:
Parents and Families,
Welcome to my class page! I am excited to be a part of the Smith Elementary family!
I graduated from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education K-6. I earned my master's degree in Educational Theory & Practice from Arkansas State University.
This is my thirteenth year teaching! Throughout my thirteen years of teaching, I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades for Polk and Pinellas County Schools in Florida, also 2nd and 3rd grades for Dallas ISD. While teaching in Polk County, I cofounded a single-gender initiative funded by the W. K. Kellog Corporation for at risk-boys. In Ghana, West Africa, I attended and colead, a week long conference on Montessori practices in a traditional classroom.
I especially love teaching Math! I love helping children explore the mathamatical world around them. I believe that all children can learn given the opportunity, and I will create a classroom environment where all children feel safe and welcomed. The students will work independently and collaboratively as they build postive relationships and create social awarenss while engaging in stimulating mathematical curriculum.
I have two amazing adult children, Michael and Mikayla. They have been the light of my life!
In my free time, I love to travel explore our amazing Earth! I love to learn about people, history, and culture. My favorite place to visit is Italy!
I look forward to learning more about your student!
