Attendance Information

The Texas Compulsory School Attendance Law (Texas Education Code §25.085) requires students between the ages of 6 and 18 to attend school each day for the full period that instruction is provided. School personnel are responsible for investigating, reporting, and when necessary, prosecuting violations of the state compulsory attendance law.

According to the Texas Education Code §21.041, students must attend 90% of the instructional days for each class semester to receive credit. A student who attends fewer than 90% of the days a class is offered may not receive credit unless the attendance committee determines that the absences were due to extenuating circumstances or allows the student to make up missed time to restore credit.
