I am very proud of the service I gave my country while in the Air Force, but I have never loved a job the way I love teaching. I cannot imagine doing anything else. I look forward to each day in the classroom and making a difference in the lives of my students. I believe that a strong teacher-student relationship is the primary key to success in mentoring and teaching students. While I believe academics are vitally important to the success of young people I understand that there are more important issues that we face. My greatest success stories are not the high test scores that my students have achieved, but rather the higher self-esteem and stronger character that they have developed. I intend for each of my students to finish the year more academically proficient than they began it, but above all I intend and expect them to finish as better, brighter, and well rounded individuals who can think on their feet and respond life’s challenges with level headed wisdom, thoughtfulness, a can-do attitude, humor, and joy. I encourage all of my students to be "tough minded" but "soft hearted". Our class motto is Strong Heart, Clear Mind, No Fear, Can’t Lose. Derdenators epitomize this motto in their daily classroom behavior and hopefully throughout their lives.

It is my honor and privilege to serve America’s next generation as teacher and mentor – someone who will always tell them the truth and will always be there when needed...this year and in the future.
