    STAAR
The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR™) is the criterion-referenced assessment program mandated by the Texas Education Agency. Texas’ student assessment program is designed to measure the extent to which a student has learned and is able to apply the defined knowledge and skills at each tested grade or course level.
    • Texas has offered a statewide student assessment since 1980. In the spring of 2012, Texas students began taking the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) exams. The state also offers accommodations on these assessments for students who have significant cognitive disabilities and are receiving special education services.

    • The STAAR program includes annual assessments for
      • Reading and mathematics, grades 3–8
      • Writing at grades 4 and 7
      • Science at grades 5 and 8
      • Social studies at grade 8
      • End-of-course assessments for English I, English II, Algebra I, biology and U.S history.

    Practice STAAR/EOC
Practice STAAR/EOC tests are released tests given by the district six weeks prior to the real administration for the purpose of identifying weaknesses and gaps that need instructional attention.

    TELPAS
The Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) is designed to assess the progress that English Language Learners make in learning the English language.

    AP Exams
Advanced Placement examinations are taken by students participating in Advanced Placement (AP) courses. The tests are taken each May and are the culmination of year-long AP course material.

    PSAT
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) is a rigorous, national assessment that measures the critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills your students will need for higher education and careers after high school.

    PISD Six Weeks Tests
PISD's six weeks tests assess individual TEKS proficiency based on established instructional calendars. These tests allow teachers and administrators the opportunity to identify student strengths, weaknesses, and gaps in conceptual knowledge for instructional planning to maximize teaching and learning opportunities.

Along with the testing calendar links on this page, test administration dates can be found on the individual district and campus calendar pages.
