Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When is my child's annual ARD?

Your child's annual ARD will be scheduled at approximately the time that it was held the year before. Annual ARDs are held once a year, but you can always call an ARD if you have any concerns.

When will I be notified of their ARD?

ARD notices are usually sent 2-3 weeks before the ARD.

PLEASE be sure to notify the school of any change to your contact information so that you can be reached in case of an emergency.

I can't find my child's paperwork. Can I get another copy?

Yes. All of your student's paperwork will be kept by the SPED office and will travel with your child when they graduate to Middle School. You may request a copy at any time. If you are moving, it is a good idea to bring your child's paperwork to their new school so that they can begin receiving their services on day one.

What if I cannot be at the ARD in person?

We can either hold the ARD over the phone, through Zoom, or reschedule in most instances. You also have the option of giving us permission to hold the ARD without you, if necessary. All paperwork will be sent home with the student or through the mail, whichever you prefer.

What classes are offered through Resource?

We offer reading, writing, and math resource classes. All students attend science and social studies in the general education classroom with support from the SPED teacher.

    Does Resource give homework?

Yes! Students will receive a limited amount of homework each night except Friday, and we will usually go over the homework the following day as a class.

Students will rarely have homework in reading, but it is highly recommended that students read a book of their choice for at least 20-30 minutes each day.

No homework is given over the weekend.

Please make sure your student comes to class prepared. They may need you to help them adjust to the responsibility of doing and returning their homework every night.
