  • Under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. 

    The new Title IX regulation provides for a narrower definition of sexual harassment that constitutes sex discrimination.  The new definition has (3) types of sex-based conduct which would constitute sexual harassment:

    • Sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking;
    • “Unwelcome conduct that is so severe, pervasive and objectively offensive that it effectively denies a person equal educational access; and
    • An employee conditioning the aid, benefit or service on participation of unwelcomed sexual conduct (Quid pro Quo)

    The District prohibits discrimination, including harassment, against any student or employee on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, age, disability, or any other basis prohibited by law. Retaliation against anyone involved in the complaint process is a violation of District policy and is prohibited. 

  • In compliance with Title IX regulations, reports of discrimination based on sex, including sexual harrassment, may be directed to the district's designated Title IX Coordinator.

Title IX Training Materials

  • New Title IX regulations, effective August 14, 2020,  place heavy emphasis on training. School districts must ensure that Title IX Coordinators, investigators, decision makers, and any person who facilitates an informal resolution process, receive training. In addition, schools must make all materials used to train Title IX personnel publically available on the district's website. Princeton ISD's Title IX personnel training was provided by attorneys from Abernathy, Roeder, Boyd, & Hullett.
