English IV

Course Description
This
course is a survey of
the development of the English language and literature from the early
Anglo-Saxon period to the present Modern Period. Within this
content, the
student will critically analyze the author’s stylistic techniques and
see how
the changes in the language are reflected in the literary works of the
historical periods.
Objectives of English IV
Develop
critical thinking in reading/writing analysis
Write
resumes for future job and college applications.
Write
college essays – rewriting, revising, and peer editing.
Reinforce
grammatical conventions/mechanics.
Increase
vocabulary through units of SAT vocabulary building.
Research
topics and write reports.
