Bee Books - Bee Books
should go home every afternoon and come back to school every
morning. Important notes, conduct sheet, spelling words, graded
papers, and the reading log will all be sent home in the Bee
Book. There is also a spiral notebook for us to communicate back
and forth. Please check your student's Bee Book every evening.
Conduct Sheet - We
have a color system to keep up with conduct. At the end of the
day, I will record your child's conduct, so you will be aware of any
problems. On Friday, you will need to initial the sheet.
This helps me know that you have gotten any messages or notes that have
been sent home. The color system is:
White = Great Day
Yellow = Warning
Orange = Loss of Privelege
Blue = Time Out
Purple = Send to Partner Teacher
Red = Send to Principal
If behavior is severe enough, color changes can be skipped. For
example, a student might go directly from white to purple or red for
extreme misbehavior. Citizenship grades are given based on
conduct grades. A student cannot make honor roll if they have a
Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory conduct grade.
Excellent = 0 to 1 (color changes per
week)
Satisfactory = 2 to 3
Needs Improvement = 4 to 5
Unsatisfactory = 6 or more
Spelling Tests - New
spelling Words will be brought home every Friday. On Monday, we
wil have a pretest over these words. If they make a 95 or higher,
the student will not have to take the spelling test on Friday.
Getting Home - If your
child is going to ride home a different way than usual, I have to have
a note from you. Otherwise I must send them home the way they
normally go.
Homework - The
homework sheet lists all the homework for the week, spelling words, and
other important reminders. These are sent home on Friday for the
next week. I will send the homework home the day before it is
due. If homework is not completed or is left at home, the
student's color will be changed.
Reading Log - Students
are required to read 15 minutes each night during the week.
Please record the title of the book, minutes read, and the date on the
reading log. This paper will stay in the Bee Book. On
Thursday night, parents need to inital. The goal is to read 60
minutes for the week, so if they get behind one night, they can catch
up the next.
Math Drills - Every
Thursday we will have a 2 minute math drill. Students should be
studying their math facts each night, and parents are asked to inital
the homework sheets (so the students get credit for practicing!)
The drills are graded, but only one grade is recorded for each six
weeks. If the student improves the following week, the first
grade is replaced with the better grade,
