James A. Godwin Elementary School centers its instruction on providing a good foundation for future learning in reading, mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies.  Teachers strive to instill a love for learning in these early formative years.  Special programs include: full-day kindergarten, tutoring, Dyslexia program, music, gifted education, kindergarten extension, Reading Recovery, ARI (Accelerated Reading Instruction, ESL (English as a Second Language), guidance counseling, speech, and occupational and physical therapy.
