Teacher Bio

After working with students from kindergarten through eighth grade for many years, I am pleased to be at Clark Junior High.   I look forward to the opportunity to help your children learn to express themselves in positive ways and develop skills and habits that will improve their chances of life long success.
I received my first degree and teaching certification from Northeastern State College, later renamed Northeastern Oklahoma State University.  That is where I met my husband of 36 years.  We have two grown children and two grandchildren.
I attended The University of Tulsa to obtain additional certification and graduate work.  I have also done graduate work at Northeastern Oklahoma State University.

Last summer I attended my second AP Summer Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas. In addition, I attended a journalism seminar at the University of Texas at Austin. I am continuously searching  for improved  methods and content to reach and challenge all my students.

Teaching Experience:
2007-2008 is the fifth year I have taught seventh grade language arts in Princeton, and the fourth year
to teach Pre-AP. This will be my third year as the junior high newspaper adviser.
Before coming to Princeton, I taught eighth grade English, American History, civics, and earth science, coached a championship scholastic team, and was the local 4-H leader.

Prior to my eighth grade assignment, I taught all sixth grade subjects in a self-contained classroom.  Where I stressed creative
writing, reading comprehension, elements of literature, division, fractions, and pre-algebra, comparisons of cultures, economies and geography of nations of the world, and explored areas of life and physical sciences.

My first public school assignment was teaching kindergarten. Here I stressing reading readiness, development of motor, cognitive, listening, and social skills, and attempting to instill in students an appreciation of music, books, and learning

Why do  I teach?
We cannot predict what the future may afford each individual.  Whether going to work right out of high school or attending college, I will do my best to prepare each student to meet his or her full potential. I hope to serve your child well.
