His bands have won the State TMEA Honor Band Competition (2 times), Texas State Marching Competition (3 times), the Texas State Wind Ensemble Contest (3 times), and Outstanding Performance Series (3 songs).
He has been inducted in to the Honor Fraternity of Phi Beta Mu.
He served on the Texas UIL State Marching Advisory Committee (1997-2000).

Mr. Herring began teaching in Princeton 2003
Wrote the Marching Show "Sinbad" for Princeton High School 2005.
Freelance Musician in the Dallas metroplex area.
