we have resided for the last twenty years. We have a son, Mike, and
a daughter Kim. Kim has blessed us with three beautiful grandchildren.

Teaching
Philosophy
As
an educator it is
essential that I know, by the grace of God, the importance of helping
each
child to release their individual, God given potential to learn and use
knowledge to benefit their futures, and that I teach to this
goal. Every
child has the ability to comprehend materials at some level.
Also, every
child has the ability to increase knowledge by developing learning
habits that
best suit their needs.
The teaching process has to include different strategies to suit
individual
differences and abilities in order to promote independent study and
comprehension of basics and problem solving. The use of
manipulatives,
hands on activities, projects related to other subjects where math
would be an
essential part of that subject, such as Physics, and study groups, to
name a
few, are all ways of developing a child's intrinsic abilities to study
and
learn.
As a teacher, I am responsible for knowing each of my students
individually. Learning names is only the beginning. I must
learn my
student's individual abilities, by testing frequently. I need to
create a
comfortable atmosphere in the classroom. To reduce the stress
that comes
from not understanding a concept, I must be an encourager and a mentor.
The end result, I pray, will be a more confident, knowledgeable
student, who
not only knows how to work a problem, but also understands the concepts
of the
material and is able to put those concepts to use.
