We would like to congratulate Jeanette Diercoff on being this year's recipient of the Mayor's Leadership award for Huddleston Intermediate. Thank you also for Mayor John-Mark Caldwell and his lovely wife, Lisa for being able to be with us today and present Jeanette with this award.
Hannah Hooper, a student from Huddleston Intermediate, got an exciting opportunity by performing in the musical “Beauty and the Beast” March 3rd -March 4th with the Melissa Youth Onstage (MYO) group in Mckinney, Texas. She played the character of Silverware Ensemble(the Fork). “I chose to try out because I wanted the part of Belle, but there were a lot more people than I expected and was very nervous. I was very excited and happy getting a part in the musical.” When asked how her experience was she responded “ It was a lot of hard work and long hours of singing and dancing. Practices were at least 3 hours most days but did go longer sometimes. I found out it takes a lot of commitment but was worth it in the end.” We would like to congratulate Hannah for her dedication in the theatre and look forward to seeing her on stage again.
This year is Huddleston’s first year to offer the Panther Book Club, which meets every 3rd Monday of the month. Students in the book club have participated in many activities throughout the year on club days. They participated in writing book reports, creating graphic novel strips, blackout poetry, diorama of their favorite scene from a book they read, book discussions, and finally their Book Fair Project. The dioramas and book fair projects were judged by staff members of Huddleston Intermediate. Dioramas were judged by how accurate they recreated a scene from the book they read for this project. The Book Fair Project was judged by staff members as well on how they created their trifold, the accuracy of the book they used, and their book reports.
